Introducing BioPak – A Global Leader in Sustainable Packaging

We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with BioPak, the sustainable packaging experts and trusted voice for Socius and our members.

We’re living in a time where businesses and consumers demand more from the products and packaging they buy – they want to know about the product’s impact, both socially and environmentally. We’re also up against ongoing legislation changes (like Single-Use Plastic bans) making it the ideal time to embrace sustainable solutions and stay ahead of any bans.

BioPak are here to help Socius and our members navigate the ever-changing landscape of foodservice packaging so you can futureproof your distribution business and care for the planet.

BioPak continuously invest in research and development so they can provide customers with the most sustainable products and contribute to the circular economy.

Why Choose BioPak?

The BioPak difference is simple: Better for the planet, better for people, and better for business

Better for the Planet

Packaging Made From Plants

We use rapidly renewable, plant-based materials designed for the circular economy. A sustainable alternative to regular plastic.

Responsibly Sourced & Manufactured

Our packaging is manufactured from responsibly sourced materials – like our FSC™ certified paper and wood packaging.

Certified Compostable

We support composting as the best end-of-life solution for food packaging. Look for our industrial compostable (AS4736 & EN13432) and home compostable (AS5810 & NF T51-800) logos.

Emissions Reduction

Our Emission Reduction Plan will fund research, education and advocacy projects to grow the availability of composting as an end-of-life option in the markets we operate in.

Anti-Greenwashing

We’re a trusted voice in the industry. Other products may claim they’re compostable, recyclable or sustainable, but without proof or certifications, these claims are likely to be greenwashing.

Better for People

Social Accountability

We’ve set a code of conduct for our manufacturing partners to make sure people are treated fairly in the areas we operate. Our partner facilities are certified to SA8000, SMETA or BSCI.

Give Back Fund

We donate 5% of our profits to social and environmental charities. Since 2012, we’ve donated our time, energy and a total of £2.5million – including planting or rescuing 57,763 trees through Ecologi and donating 10,393 meals through Worcester Foodbank.

Certified B Corp

Certified B Corporations meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance and public transparency. At BioPak, we’re B Corp because we believe in using business as a force for good.

Composting Initiative

Compost Connect is our not-for-profit composting initiative connecting businesses to compost pickup services. Last year, we diverted 4,000+ tonnes from landfill.

Certified Home & Industrially Compostable Solutions

BioPak’s range of certified compostable packaging comes with two different certifications: certified home compostable and certified industrially compostable.

The home compostable logo means a product is certified home compostable to European NF T51-800 standards. This means it can be thrown into a backyard compost along with food scraps, grass clippings, leaves and other organic matter.

The seedling logo proves that a product is certified industrially compostable according to the European EN13432 standards. This means it can be sent to a commercial composting facility to rapidly biodegrade under controlled conditions, like specific temperature, moisture and oxygen levels.
